We are excited to announce that we have been chosen to participate as one of 35 non-profit organizations around the world in Turtle Island Restoration Network's Marine Debris Prevention & Awareness Grant Contest! This $5,000 grant will support our mission to promote marine conservation through action by working to combat the growing problem of marine debris, a massive concern for ocean conservation and the marine life we work so hard to protect. How does it work? From February 1st through February 19th, you can vote once a day for the non-profit you think deserves the funding. The organization that receives the most votes wins and will be awarded the grant. How can you help AMSEAS? Click on the link below ("Vote Here") to vote for the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society. Remember, you can vote once a day, so refresh that link and cast your votes daily until February 19th! How will AMSEAS utilize funding? Grant funds will be used to host ten beach monitoring and cleanup events, with a focus on searching for cold stunned sea turtles in danger from October through December. Events that take place from January through September will focus on other marine life that walkers might encounter, like stranded seals or whales. Each beach monitoring and cleanup event will cover a minimum of one mile of coastline, totaling a minimum of 10 miles of coastline that will be monitored for stranded animals and cleaned of floatable debris. This program will serve as a backbone for building community beach monitoring efforts and will increase the program’s impact far after the grant expires. Thank you for your support!
